It is over 30 years since we held out first literary event. James Herriot agreed to come along and speak. No-one in those, days had heard of him..nor us! But our events were launched and in the past years we have had the pleasure of welcoming and meeting over 360 authors. We've grown a bit and learnt a lot.

The Rose Counties Literary Events(as they were recently re-named), are open to all and now attract an average of 500 people. There are 6 events per year over a 24 hour period. Each event gives 2 opportunities to hear the speakers. Dinner on the first day and Luncheon, on the second.

We have become known to many as 'the friendly ones', due no doubt to the warmth of the welcome both to audience and speakers. With tickets being available to all, for some it is a regular date in their calendar and they have been coming for many years. Our permanent venue is Rendezvous@Skipton at the Gateway to the Yorkshire Dales. We ask our authors to speak for about 15 minutes and sign copies of their books afterwards. Extra publicity is gained from local press and a glossy County magazine and interviews can be arranged if the authors wish.

Along with the Ribble Valley Luncheon Club we support Cancer Research and in the past 7 years have raised over £360,000.
